Highlands Mayor Patrick Taylor has an opinion. He recently said:
“Historically, we are more of a retreat community than a tourist community.”
“People retreat here to escape the hustle and bustle of metropolitan areas and jam-packed tourist towns.”
“We must always balance the need for progress with the necessity to preserve what is so special and essentially Highlands.”
The Highlands Neighborhood Coalition couldn’t agree more, but we are heading in the opposite direction!
We believe it is critically important to preserve a Town that provides:
· Traditional neighborhoods exclusively for our full-time and seasonal residents.
· A safe and vibrant commercial district where restaurants, shops, small businesses, and lodging can thrive and peacefully co-exist.
· Enjoyable and plentiful visitor experiences that do not harm traditional neighborhoods, town infrastructure, or the environment.
Thankfully, you and hundreds of other residents believe this as well. We are grateful for your involvement and your help.
